Emerging Issues for Financial Executives

Phil Livingston, President, FEI National

The February speaker for our FEI dinner program is Phil Livingston, President of FEI National. Phil’s presentation will focus on Emerging Issues for Financial Executives.

Phil was named president and CEO of Financial Executives Institute in January 1999. Prior to joining FEI, he served as Senior Vice President and CFO of Catalina Marketing Corporation (NYSE: POS), a $250 million supplier of electronic marketing services for the consumer package goods industry.

Before entering the business world, Phil played offensive tackle as a member of the 1981 Super Bowl Champion Oakland Raiders. He is a member of the American and California Societies of Certified Public Accountants. He and his wife, Karen, have three children — Sarah (age 8), Scott (5), and Cindy (2). Karen and Phil enjoy golf and Phil is an avid photographer.

Technical Session

Come hear a leading edge expert in the field present Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) during our February technical session. An important objective of today’s business leader is maximizing shareholder value. To succeed, executives must efficiently manage factors that impact the value of the firm — including risk.

ERM is defined as a comprehensive process and perspective for helping companies develop risk management strategies. It is an organization wide process to identify, quantify, mitigate, model, and finance risk. The goal: improve shareholder value by maximizing income and reducing earnings volatility. Join us for this valuable presentation and CPE credit.

NOTE – Change in Dress Code

Friends of FEI

Since many organizations in the Valley now have a more casual dress code, we have changed our practice to provide more flexibility in your choice of dress for the meeting. Business formal and business casual are both acceptable — so please take your pick. Feel free to attend the FEI meetings wearing either office attire that is standard for you.

The Arizona Chapter of Financial Executives Institute is pleased to have the following Friends of FEI Sponsors. Our sincere thanks for your support.

If you want to win, You’ve got to attend!

Attend the Meeting – Get a Shirt

At last month’s meeting we had a drawing for a gift certificate for dinner for two at Roxanne’s Restaurant — quite a nice place, to say the least! All members are entered into the drawing, and we draw names until the person whose name is drawn is present.

Here are the names we drew who COULD have won —

Peter Hathaway Tim Vatuone Elizabeth Blouse

John Harbottle William Unger William Duncan

Gregory Jonas

But we kept drawing, and our winner – in attendance – was Jerry Ford. Congratulations, Jerry!

All FEI members who attend the February meeting will receive a free FEI golf shirt.

To help us plan, when you call in your reservation, please tell us your golf shirt size. The information we need is whether the shirt is for a man or a woman and the size preferred — medium, large, or extra large.

If you’ve ever seen these shirts, you know what a nice addition it will be to your wardrobe. So be sure to call in your reservation – with your shirt size – then come to the meeting to receive your gift. See you there!
